PAC PLAY OPENS WITH SWEEP OF W & J AND WESTMINSTER

Washington, PA - Geneva′s women′s volleyball team is always interested in playing a very difficult non-conference schedule to prepare itself for life in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. That philosophy began to pay off on Wednesday night as the Golden Tornadoes moved to 7-3 overall and opened play against the PAC with a pair of 3-1 victories over W & J and Westminster.

In the first match of the night, Geneva and Westminster split the first two games before the Golden Tornadoes took control of the match in games three and four. Adriane Blake led the offense with 18 kills and three service aces. Michelle Zimmovan added 15 kills and three blocks. Elizabeth Fisher chipped in with 28 digs while setter Brandi Snavely continued her stellar play with 52 assists.

Match two brought much of the same as Geneva took care of host W & J in four games. After dropping game one 25-15, the Golden Tornadoes cruised to victories in the next three games. Blake was solid again with 14 kills while freshman Rachel Kuegler added 13 kills in the victory.

Geneva has now won five consecutive matches to move to 7-3 on the season. After playing the first ten matches away from Metheny Fieldhouse, the Golden Tornadoes will finally return home on Saturday to host Thiel and Saint Vincent in a pair of PAC matches.
