PERFECT TEN, GENEVASWEEP EXTENDS

STREAK TO DOUBLE DIGITS

Beaver Falls, PA- A pair of victories by the Geneva College women′s volleyball team on Friday night extended its current win streak to ten games and moved its overall record to 12-3. The Golden Tornadoes cruised to a pair of 3-0 victories over Penn State Beaver and Houghton at Metheny Fieldhouse.

Geneva played its fourth and fifth straight matches without allowing an opponent to take a game. In the first match of the night, the Golden Tornadoes put together three convincing games against cross-town rival Penn State Beaver. In the victory, Geneva once again used a balanced offensive attack to tame the Lions. Freshman Rachel Kuegler led the way with nine kills and got help from kills leader Adriane Blake who posted six kills in two games. Faith Guerra led the defense with ten digs and Brandi Snavely put together another solid match with 28 kills in games one and two.

The Golden Tornadoes put together one of the most dominant performances in recent memory in the night cap. Before the Geneva faithful could get comfortable in their seats, the Golden Tornadoes had cruised to a 25-13 victory in game one against Houghton. Led by 12 consecutive service points from Adriane Blake, Geneva put up an insurmountable lead. Blake was dominant from start to finish with four service aces, 18 digs and a hitting percentage through the roof. Blake threw down 18 kills on 28 attempts and committed just two hitting errors.

Kuegler again played the best supporting actress role with 12 kills, while Snavely held the team together with her 37 assists. Faith Guerra again paced the defense with 20 digs in the night cap.

Geneva will get back into PAC action on Tuesday as it looks to extend its winning streak once more against long time rival Grove City College. The Golden Tornadoes will then make the long road trip to Thomas More on Thursday night.
