Construction continues with phase II

Construction continues with phase IIAs Phase II of the Beyond the Bend project continues at a steady pace, challenges in light of the new traffic patterns and construction on campus arise. But by the summer of 2009 — less than a year away — the fruits of the construction efforts will be evident all over the campus.

Construction workers are digging up old Route 18 in front of both Reeves Field and Alumni Hall. Not only are the construction crews finding old, intact bricks that formed the road over a century ago, they're also discovering tracks for the railcars that ran through Beaver Falls.

The first stage of Phase II will focus on the building of a rotary at the intersection of the old Route 18 and 31st Street, and also on a new road in front of Reeves Field. The project will then turn to the new pedestrian mall walkway, a new college entranceway at 31st Street and the new Alumni Hall parking lot.

Geneva leadership has asked for patience and understanding form the campus community over the next year. While the new traffic patterns through campus are inconvenient for both motorists and pedestrians, bigger and better things are right around the corner.
