DESERVED RESPECT, RATERS TAKING NOTICE
AS
GENEVAMOVES UP NCCAA POLL

Beaver Falls, PA -It hasn′t been an easy road, but it is certainly turning out to be a satisfying one for the Geneva men′s soccer team. Coming into the week, the Golden Tornadoes are sitting at 10-1, including victories in ten straight matches. With the recent success, the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) raters have been forced to take notice of that overwhelming success. As a result, the Golden Tornadoes find themselves ranked 8th in the most recent national poll for NCCAA Division I men′s soccer.

Geneva received 21 votes in the most recent poll, which is just two points shy of a sixth place tie between Palm Beach Atlantic and Hope International. Bryan College, which has an overall record of 10-0-1, remained in the top spot with 69 points, including six first place votes. The only other first place vote went to 2nd ranked The Master′s College, which has a 6-0-2 overall record.

The Golden Tornadoes dropped their first match of the season to Wilmington College by the score of 2-1. Since that opening day loss, Geneva has rolled to ten consecutive victories, including a total of seven shut-out victories. The goalkeeper trio of Jeremy Musser, David Callahan and Sam McCracken have allowed just five goals all season for a combined goals against average of 0.45.

Offensively, Geneva has used a balanced attack with a total of 12 players scoring at least one goal. Bruce Fox leads the offense with five goals, while Paul Liotta, Caleb Musselman, Zach Buffalini and Jake McCracken have three goals each.

Geneva started play against Presidents′ Athletic Conference competition last Friday and picked up a dramatic 1-0 victory over Bethany College. Zach Buffalini scored the games only goal with just 37 seconds remaining in regulation to extend Geneva′s winning streak to ten straight matches.

Geneva will look to continue its streak against all PAC opponents for the rest of the regular season. The Golden Tornadoes will look toward the NCCAA east regional tournament during the month of November for an opportunity to qualify for the national tournament in early December. The NCCAA national tournament will be held in Kissimmee, FL in early December.
