LONDINO REGISTERS 8TH SHUT-OUT IN SCORELESS TIE WITH WAYNESBURG

Waynesburg, PA - It was déjà vu all over again for Geneva′s women′s soccer team on Tuesday night. For the second straight match and for the fourth time this season, the Golden Tornadoes battled to a scoreless tie. On this night, Geneva and Waynesburg played 110 minutes without. For the season, the Golden Tornadoes moved to 6-3-5.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Londino continues to have a dream season in goal with her eighth shut-out of the season. Londino, who was forced to win the starting goalkeeper job coming out of pre-season camp, has lowered her goals against average to less than 0.6 goals per game.

Londino posted an incredible 15 saves to preserve the tie. Although Waynesburg (7-6-2) controlled the tempo for most of the night by out shooting Geneva 15-7, the Golden Tornadoes had the best chances to score in overtime. Melissa Brooks pounded one off the post just two minutes into the extra session and a scrum in front of the Waynesburg net late in OT almost resulted in Geneva′s game winner.

The Golden Tornadoes have lost just once in the last ten matches, which included five ties.

Geneva will look to continue its hot streak on Saturday evening when it hosts Thomas More in the home finale at 5 pm.
