SENIOR NIGHT STUNNER, GENEVARALLY
FALLS SHORT AGAINST W & J

Beaver Falls, PA- For the three Geneva College seniors playing their final home match at Metheny Fieldhouse, it will be a night they won′t soon forget. Unfortunately for Blair Bruce, Elizabeth Fisher and Faith Guerra it was not the outcome they were hoping for against Washington & Jefferson. After spotting W & J a 2-0 lead, the Golden Tornadoes came roaring back with wins in games three and four. The Presidents responded in the fifth and deciding game and escaped Metheny Fieldhouse with a 3-2 victory 25-19, 26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 15-12). The loss moved Geneva to 21-10 on the season and sent the Golden Tornadoes to their first three-match losing streak of the season.

Adriane Blake put together another solid effort with a team best 23 kills, five aces and 19 digs. Geneva′s senior trio of Bruce, Fisher and Guerra each played a significant role in Tuesday′s contest. Bruce and Fisher finished with eight kills each and Guerra had 12 digs on the night. Guerra also had a couple kills and three aces.

Brandi Snavely, who entered the night leading the PAC in assists, put together a solid 47 assist night for the Golden Tornadoes.

Washington & Jefferson jumped out to an impressive two games to zero lead before Geneva began an impressive comeback. With the match tied at two game each, Geneva looked to be on its way to a victory after starting game five with a 5-1 lead. The Presidents then proceeded to score eight of the next nine points to take a 9-6 lead that it would not relinquish.

Geneva goes on the road to finish out the 2008 season on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Chatham to play a tri-match against the Cougars of Chatham and Saint Vincent College.
