UNHAPPY ENDING, GENEVAALLOWS SEASON HIGH
FOUR GOALS IN 4-1 REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Grove City, PA - A frustrated Geneva men′s soccer team was trying to understand exactly what happened on Saturday afternoon. After scoring the first goal and controlling the tempo of the match for the majority of the first half, things quickly fell apart and resulted in a 4-1 loss to Grove City. The Wolverines have become the biggest Geneva nemesis on the schedule as they have continued to hold Geneva′s number for the past several years.

On Saturday it originally looked as though this could be the year to turn things around. Freshman Caleb Musselman took a pass from Jonah Creasy and found the net in the 25th minute to give the Golden Tornadoes a short-lived lead. Just nine minutes later, the Wolverines answered on a goal from Jake Kern. With the score tied at 1-1 heading into halftime, Geneva was still in good shape to take a victory in the regular season finale.

Things, however, went from bad to worse for the Golden Tornadoes as they surrendered three second half goals and allowed a season high four goals in the match. Grove City took the lead in the 55th minute and added insurance tallies in the 78th and 83rd minutes to put the match away.

Grove City ended up out shooting Geneva 14-11 in the match, including a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. Geneva senior goalkeeper Sam McCracken managed to make six saves but also watched four balls get behind him in the 4-1 decision.

Geneva will now begin to play the waiting game for at lease two weeks before beginning play in the NCCAA East Regional tournament with a chance to advance to the nationals in December. Geneva finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-6, which is identical to its 12-6 record from a year ago.
