WAITING GAME IS OVER, GENEVA HEADING

TO ROBERTS WESLEYAN FOR REGIONAL SEMI-FINALS

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva men′s soccer coach Todd Beall is tired of waiting around to find out where and when his team will begin its NCCAA post-season run. The waiting game for Beall and the Golden Tornadoes came to an end on Thursday morning as it was finally determined that they would be heading to Rochester, NY on Saturday to face Roberts Wesleyan in the NCCAA eastern regional semi-finals in a 1 pm kickoff.

Roberts Wesleyan dropped a 2-1 decision to Notre Dame College in the American Mideast Conference semi-finals on Wednesday night which opened the door for the Raiders to move into the NCCAA play-off picture. A similar situation will arise on Saturday when top seeded Mt. Vernon Nazarene faces Notre Dame in the AMC finals. Should Mt. Vernon win the AMC title, it would forego any chance to compete in the NCCAA tournament. If that were to happen, the winner of the Geneva-Roberts Wesleyan match would advance directly into the NCCAA national tournament in the first week of December. Should Mt. Vernon lose the AMC title game, it would then be in a position to host the NCCAA regional finals on a date to be determined next week.

Geneva finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-6, but it limped to the finish line having dropped five of its final seven matches after a 10-1 start. Roberts Wesleyan will enter Saturday′s match with an overall mark of 14-6. It was the Raiders that knocked Geneva out of the NCCAA regional tournament last year when the Golden Tornadoes entered with an identical 12-6 regular season record.

The 2008 NCCAA national tournament will be held in Kissimmee, FL from December 3-6.
