COACHING HONORS HANDED OUT FOR
GENEVA SOCCER PROGRAMS

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women′s soccer team still has some work to do this weekend at the NCCAA Eastern regional tournament, but the Presidents′ Athletic Conference handed out their post-season honors on Wednesday for both the men′s and women′s team. Geneva was well represented with three players on both the men′s and women′s teams receiving post-season recognition.

Geneva, still in NCAA III provisional status, is not eligible for post-season and its players are not eligible for All-Conference recognition. However, the PAC coaches do hand out coaching honors to those players who played at an all-conference level.

On the men′s side, senior Mark Zurbrick (Lancaster, PA), along with sophomores Kenton Burckhart (Telford, PA) and Bruce Fox (Fairfield, OH) were all honored. Zurbrick has directed the Geneva defense during his brilliant four year career, two of which he has served as a co-captain. Burckhart enjoyed a breakout season in the midfield and Fox ended the season with a team best nine goals for the Golden Tornadoes.

For the women, senior midfielder Amanda Caler (Glenside, PA), senior forward Kelsey Anderson (Pittsburgh, PA) and sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Londino (Allison Park, PA) were all honored. Londino set a single season record with 11 shut-outs for the Golden Tornadoes, while the senior tandem of Caler and Anderson helped to spark an incredible turnaround season for the Golden Tornadoes and a trip to the NCCAA regional tournament.

Geneva′s women open regional play on Friday against host Roberts Wesleyan in the semi-finals. The regional final will be on Saturday at 3 pm with the winner of Geneva/Roberts Wesleyan taking on the winner of Mt. Vernon/Nyack.
