Geneva College running back Matt DeanBeaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s football team pulled off a sizeable upset on Saturday with a 17-13 victory over newly crowned PAC champion Thomas More College. The win was the third straight for Geneva and it put an end to a seven-game win streak for the Saints. A big part of the Geneva victory was the work done by junior running back Matt Dean (New Castle, PA).

Dean was named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) national player of the week for his efforts on Saturday. Dean accounted for both Geneva touchdowns on runs of one yard and 17 yards. For the game, he rushed for 84 yards on 13 carries for an average of 6.5 yards per carry.

The Golden Tornadoes have won three straight games after starting the season with a record of 1-5. Geneva hosts Westminster College on Saturday with a chance to end the season with a .500 record in what would be one of the most impressive turnaround seasons in recent history.

Dean is a major part of a Geneva running attack that has taken flight during the three-game streak. The Golden Tornadoes have racked up over 800 yards on the ground in the last three weeks led by the trio of Dean, Gerard Muschette and Matt Barge.
