Dan Terracciano #25 celebrates a Geneva touchdown.Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva′s football season has not gone completely to plan with a 3-5 overall record through eight games, but on Thursday one of its seniors was honored by ESPN The Magazine for his achievements on and off the field. Senior linebacker Dan Terracciano was one of only five PAC players to be named a first team selection to the Academic All-District 2 team.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) released its All-Academic teams on Thursday for football and Terracciano was the first-ever selection to come out of Geneva College. On the field, Terracciano is Geneva′s third leading tackler with 49 tackles including five tackles for loss. He also has a pair of interceptions through eight games including one being returned for a touchdown.

A two-year starter on Geneva′s defensive unit, Terracciano has been even more impressive in the classroom. Holding a 3.94 cumulative GPA in his major of youth ministries, Terracciano has also been very active in his participation with SAAC (student-athlete advisory committee) on Geneva′s campus.

“This is a young man that deserves every accolade that he receives,” says head coach Geno DeMarco. “He exemplifies excellence in every aspect of his life and sets an incredible example for our younger players. In addition to his work on the field and in the classroom, Dan has been our spiritual leader for the past three years.”

DeMarco should know something about excelling on the football field and in the classroom. In fact, DeMarco was Geneva′s first-ever Academic All-American back in 1983 when he was a member of the linebacking core for the Golden Tornadoes and head coach Gene Sullivan. DeMarco, who graduated from Geneva with three separate majors, has been at the controls of the Geneva football program for the past 16 years.

Terracciano will now be one of five PAC football players to have his name put into the national ring for the opportunity to become an Academic All-American at the end of the season.
