BEAVER FALLS, Pa. –Michele Wucker, a leading voice on immigration, citizenship and cross-cultural issues, will speak at Geneva College on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 7 at 10:10 a.m. in Skye Lounge.

Wucker serves as executive director of the World Policy Institute in New York City and is a research fellow at the Immigration Policy Center in Washington, D.C.

Her book Lockout: Why America Keeps Getting Immigration Wrong When Our Prosperity Depends on Getting It Right (Public Affairs, 2006) stemmed from the similarities she noticed between the immigration stories of her European ancestors and contemporary immigrants from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Wucker has also written Why the Cocks Fight: Dominicans, Haitians and the Struggle for Hispaniola (FSG, 1999), a look at the politics of language in Hispaniola.

Wucker lectures frequently at various universities and policy forums and writes for many publications, including Forbes, Harper′s, Newsday, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. Her interests include the politics and economics of immigration and integration, as well as international finance and debt crisis.
