MINUS RAWDING GENEVA FALLS AT GROVE CITY

Grove City, PA - It was the first test for the Geneva women′s basketball team without senior Renee Rawding who was told on Tuesday she would need season ending foot surgery. Without the senior forward, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 68-58 decision to Grove City. It was the first victory of the season for the Wolverines, who moved to 1-5, while Geneva fell to 3-2 on the season.
Geneva led briefly in the first half at 8-4, but Grove City put together a 9-0 run and never looked back. The Wolverines opened up a 37-19 lead at the half and cruised in the final 20 minutes. The Golden Tornadoes managed to put together a small run to close out the game, but could not get any closer than eight points.

Michawn Rich led Geneva with 15 points and seven rebounds, but Geneva shot just 38% from the field for the game, including a mark of 26% in the first half. The Golden Tornadoes managed just seven field goals in the first half and shot just 3-21 from three point range for the game.

Grove City featured a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures led by Laura Miller′s 18 points. Geneva got 11 points from Rachel Barry, who was 5-7 from the foul line.

The Golden Tornadoes will look to get back into the win column on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Washington & Jefferson for a 4 pm tip-off. Geneva will return home on December 13th to face Bethany College.
