DELUCA DELIGHTFUL, FRESHMAN LEADS
GENEVA COLLEGE TO ROAD WIN

Pittsburgh, PA -Geneva College interim women′s basketball coach Amy Russin has been waiting for some production from her freshman class and some help off the bench. On Wednesday night, the first year coach got them both in a 70-63 victory over Chatham University. Geneva improved to 6-5 including a victory for the second time in three nights as a result of the work from not only the bench, but from a pair of college newcomers.

Beth DeLuca scored a career best 19 points, including 3-5 from three point range, to lead Geneva to its first victory over a PAC opponent. With leading scorer and rebounder Michawn Rich relegated to the bench for most of the night with foul trouble, Geneva′s bench was forced to step up and that is exactly what happened. In addition to DeLuca′s career night, freshman Alyssa Miller posted a career best 14 points in a reserve role. "This was big for us," said Russin. "We needed some production from some unfamiliar faces and Beth and Alyssa played extremely well."

Geneva′s offense clicked to the tune of 48% from the field for the night while holding down a Chatham University team that fell to 7-4, but was riding the crest of a four-game winning streak. "They are a much improved team and it is a difficult place to play but our ladies stepped up."

Christine Carugati was the only other Geneva player to reach double figures with 11 points as Geneva took control of the game after the teams went to the halftime break tied at 29 apiece. The Golden Tornadoes opened up a 10-point lead in the second half and managed to hold on down the stretch.

Geneva will return to Metheny Fieldhouse on Saturday night to host Waynesburg University in another Presidents′ Athletic Conference showdown.
