CATS CAGE GENEVA, THIEL UPENDS GOLDEN TORNADOES

Greenville, PA - Geneva College′s women′s basketball team watched Thiel College score the first seven points of the game on Saturday afternoon and never look back. The Golden Tornadoes rallied from down 20 points in the second half to pull within three, but wound up dropping a 74-60 decision to the Tomcats. Geneva fell to 7-7 on the season with its second consecutive loss while Thiel improved to 7-7 by putting an end to its three-game losing streak.

Geneva trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half but pulled with nine points at the halftime break. Thiel scored 14 of the first 16 points of the second half and opened up a 48-28 lead with just over 15 minutes left in regulation. The Golden Tornadoes made a frantic comeback and twice pulled with three points but could not get over the hump. Beth DeLuca brought Geneva back with 12 of her team 14 points coming in the second half. Rachel Barry also scored in double figures with 12 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.

The Golden Tornadoes could not come up with a defensive answer for the duo of Michelle Warren and Amber Bodrick. The duo combined for 42 points including a game high 23 points from Warren who shot 8-10 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. Bodrick, Thiel′s leading scorer, posted 17 of her 19 points in the second half.

Geneva will head home for a three game home stand beginning with Westminster College on Wednesday night.
