The Henry Mancini Musical Theatre AwardsBEAVER FALLS, Pa. –The fifteenth annual Henry Mancini Awards will recognize the musical theater talent of 14 local area high schools on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 7 p.m. in Geneva College′s Metheny Fieldhouse.

The participating schools are: Aliquippa High School; Ambridge Area High School; Beaver Area High School; Beaver County Christian School; Big Beaver Falls High School; Center Area High School; Freedom Area; Hopewell Area High School; New Brighton High School; Quigley Catholic High School; Riverside High School; Rochester Area High School; Shenango High School and Western Beaver High School.

The categories for nominees are: Outstanding Male in a Leading Role; Outstanding Female in a Leading Role; Outstanding Male in a Supporting Role; Outstanding Female in a Supporting Role; Noteworthy Performance by an Individual; Noteworthy Performance by a Small Group; Outstanding Dance Performance; Outstanding Sets and Scenery; Outstanding Technical Design; Outstanding Costumes; Outstanding Orchestra; Outstanding Vocal Ensemble; and Outstanding Overall Production.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards program was established to encourage excellence in high school musicals in Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties. Three Awards of Excellence are presented in each category except Outstanding Individual Performances, where six awards are presented.

The program is named in honor of the award-winning composer of Aliquippa, the late Henry Mancini. Geneva College hosts the event to support musical theatre in local high schools.
