Geneva College joins forces with The Art Institue of Pittsburgh

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Geneva College is continually looking for ways to provide more opportunities for its students. On February 20, 2009, representatives of Geneva College and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh will sign an agreement of affiliation. By joining forces with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Geneva College will be able to provide a variety of new options for its students.

The agreement will be signed by President Kenneth A. Smith of Geneva College and President George L. Pry of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. It states that “the primary purpose of this agreement is to enable qualified Geneva College students to pursue specified Junior Year College Affiliate Programs at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and for students who are graduates of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh to be able to articulate into Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs being offered at Geneva College.”

Qualified Geneva College students will now be able add to their education with specialized courses of study at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Within the communications major and visual communications concentration, new programs include:

  • Advertising
  • Fashion and Retail Management
  • Game Art and Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Industrial Design
  • Interior Design
  • Media Arts and Animation
  • Photography
  • Visual Effects and Motion Graphics

This affiliation also means that students of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh can receive a Christ-centered education at Geneva College. Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva College provides a distinctive quality education that is shaped by a Christian view of life and the world.

Students can take advantage of the opportunity to get a Christ-centered Geneva College education with visual communications programs of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh beginning in the summer of 2009.

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is a community comprised of 3,000 students taking degree programs at a historic Downtown Pittsburgh location and approximately 10,000 students taking courses available through the college′s online division.
