OFFENSIVE OUTBURST, GENEVA BREAKS OUT THE BATS IN SWEEP OVER MARTIN LUTHER

Ft. Pierce, FL - The warm Florida weather rubbed off on the Geneva College bats on Tuesday as the Golden Tornadoes heated up on offense to the tune of 26 runs in a doubleheader sweep over Martin Luther College. Geneva opened the day with a 14-3 victory and closed out the twin bill with a 12-5 win to complete the sweep. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 4-2 on the young season with a pair of victories in their first outing in the sunshine state.

Geneva opened the day with an impressive offensive display including a six run first inning. Justin Acosta capped the first inning rally with a two-run base hit to take control of the game early. While the offense took center stage it was the pitching of Derek Sumner that took home the best supporting actor award. Sumner tossed a complete game while striking out 11 batters to earn his first victory of the season.

Game two proved to be much of the same as the Golden Tornadoes used an offensive explosion to put the game away. Tadd Eyster had four hits and four RBI′s, including his first home run of the spring, to lead the attack. Joe Jurinko and Andy Lubich each had three hits in the lopsided victory. Matt Baer pitched his way to his second victory of the trip as the Golden Tornadoes put the game away late with multiple run innings in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Geneva will get right back to work on Wednesday looking to carry its offensive momentum into a doubleheader against Northwestern, MN.
