BEWARE OF BEAR, SENIOR CLAIMS HEPTATHLON TITLE AT GENEVA

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva College and Walsh University hooked up in a women′s multi-event featuring seven heptathlon events over a 24 hour period. At the end of Saturday′s competition, senior Tiffany Bear had pretty much dominated the festivities with five first place finishes and the overall heptathlon title. Competing in the first even Goetzis West Multi-Event, three Geneva College athletes fared well against their Walsh University counterparts.

Tiffany Bear won the overall event with 3474 total points. She won the first place award by defeated Walsh′s Katelyn Paul by 330 points. Bear took first place awards in the shot put, 200 meter, 800 meter, javelin and long jump. Geneva′s Jamie Williams finished third overall with 3116 points, just 28 points out of second place. Finally, Aisha Moore posted 2499 points, which was good enough for fifth overall position.

Bear won five events and turned in some very impressive performances. She put up a distance of 4.75 to win the long jump. The shot put event was won with a distance of 10.64. Bear threw the javelin 39.63 to win her third event. Events four and five featured the foot speed of Bear with victories in the 800 meter (2:53) and the 200 meter (27.5).

The entire track and field team will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit University.
