STAND OUT PERFORMANCES HIGHLIGHT GROVE CITY MEET

Grove City, PA - Geneva′s track and field team ventured to Grove City College for a mid-week meet on Tuesday and came away with some very impressive individual performances. The Golden Tornadoes came home with a total of seven first place awards including two on the women′s side and five for the men.

Kelsey Anderson opened her spring season in impressive fashion. She took first place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.33. She also took first place in the pole vault with a mark of 2.21m. Rebecca Van Regenmorter picked up a pair of top three performances in the 800 meter (3rd) and 1500 meter (2nd) events. Tiffany Bear also turned in a solid day with second place finishes in the long jump and javelin.

Freshman Bobby Rex turned in a memorable collegiate debut with a pair of first place finishes. Rex won the 100 meter event with a time of 11.64 and then took the title in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 23.52. Teammate Corey Fraction finished right behind Rex in both events. Geneva′s Stephen Polite won the long jump with a distance of 6.02m and then took first place in the triple jump with a winning mark of 12.91m. Polite then teamed up with Rex, Fraction and Matt Susa to take first place in the 4 x 100 relay with an overall time of 44.87. In the field events, Dan Dillman turned in a pair of top five finishes in the discus and shot put.

Geneva′s heptathlon athletes will travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a multi-event over the weekend. The next full team event will be at Washington & Jefferson College on April 4th.
