Andrew Delbanco to speak at Colloquia Series at Geneva College.BEAVER FALLS, Pa. –The third installment of Geneva College′s spring 2009 Colloquia Series, Dr. Andrew Delbanco, is scheduled to speak about our nation′s history and culture on Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. and Friday, March 20 at 10:10 a.m. in the Skye Lounge of the college′s Student Center.

Delbanco has been called “America′s best social critic” by Time magazine and is expected to focus particularly on the mid-nineteenth century in general and Abraham Lincoln in particular. In addition to serving as professor and director of the American studies program at Columbia University in New York, Delbanco has written numerous books including Melville: His World and Work (Knopf, 2005) and The Death of Satan: How Americans Have Lost the Sense of Evil (Farrar Straus & Giroux, 1995).

Delbanco contributes regularly to The New York Review of Books and other publications and journals, and his work has received much recognition.
