GENEVA R & B SOUNDS GREAT, RICH AND BLAKE LEAD SWEEP

Beaver Falls, PA - Game one of Wednesday′s doubleheader between Geneva and Bethany came down to the final at-bat when sophomore Adriane Blake laced a two-run single to give the Golden Tornadoes a dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Bison. The night cap featured a pair of solo home runs off of Michawn Rich′s bat that led the Golden Tornadoes to a 7-2 win. The sweep moved Geneva′s overall record to 13-7, including nine victories in its last ten games.

Moments after Bethany had grabbed a 4-2 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, the Golden Tornadoes responded with a three spot in the bottom of the inning to get the win. Rich plated the first run of the rally with an RBI double which set the stage for Blake′s dramatics. Ashley Archer went the distance for her seventh victory of the season. She allowed three earned runs on four hits. She also struck out nine in the victory. Geneva got single runs in the third and fourth innings, including another Rich RBI double. Geneva had eight hits in game one including multiple hit games from Rich and Kim Slater.

While Rich had a pair of RBI doubles in game one, she featured a pair of solo homers in the night cap. Rich got Geneva on the board in the first inning with her first solo dinger of the game. Bethany responded with a pair of tallies in the bottom of the first inning. Amy Pearce tied the game with an RBI single in the third before the Golden Tornadoes broke it open with three runs in the fifth inning. Following Rich′s second homer of the game, Lexi Svingos and Lyndsay Piette each delivered RBI singles. In the seventh inning, Sarah Arata came up with a two-run pinch hit single to extend the lead.

Julie DiLonardo started the game and allowed one earned run in three innings. Rebekah Wahl picked up the victory with four scoreless innings of relief. Wahl allowed just one base runner in four innings while striking out six batters.

Geneva will host Thomas More in a doubleheader on Friday before welcoming Thiel to College Hill for a doubleheader on Saturday.
