GENEVA CRUISES PAST CHATHAM AS ARCHER MAKES HISTORY

Beaver Falls, PA - Ashley Archer has worked hard for many victories during her career at Geneva College. On Saturday, Archer needed only three innings of work to get one of her biggest victories in her four year career. She pitched three scoreless innings in a 13-1 win over Chatham to break the school record with 52 career pitching victories. Archer also watched her teammates cruise to a 10-1 win in the night cap with both games only going five innings because of the mercy run rule. The two victories improved Geneva′s overall record to 22-12.

Just one day after tossing a three hit shut-out over Thomas More, Archer allowed just one hit in three innings of work and three strikeouts in picking up her 11th victory of the season. Julie DiLonardo came on for the final two innings and surrendered just one unearned run. The offense posted a run in the first before breaking the game open with six more runs in the second inning. Amy Pearce′s three-run homer sparked the six run rally. Geneva collected 13 hits in game one including a pair of hits each from Michawn Rich and Adriane Blake.

Game two lasted only five innings with Rebekah Wahl picking up the win with three innings of work. Wahl gave up one unearned run, but did not allow a hit in three innings of work. She struck out three and moved to 7-4 on the season. Ariel Lilly tossed a pair of scoreless innings to end the game. Geneva once again scored once in the first, but this time posted seven runs in the second inning. Michawn Rich and Marty Adams had back to back two-run doubles to take the game over. Adams had three doubles in the game to lead a nine hit attack in game number two.

Geneva will travel to Waynesburg on Tuesday before heading to Mt. Vernon Nazarene next Friday and Saturday for the NCCAA Eastern Regional with a trip to West Palm Beach, Fl on the line.
