Aaron TommelleoBeaver Falls, PA - Geno DeMarco is entering his 17th season as Geneva College′s head football coach. Many times during his long tenure on the sidelines, DeMarco has referred to his team as a band of brothers. As the 2009 season gets set to kickoff, the band of brothers that is Geneva football is taking on a different meaning. As Geneva′s camp opens there are a total of four sets of brothers on the Geneva roster. The final set of siblings was finalized on Tuesday when younger brother Jake Delmonico joined older brother A.J. on the Geneva roster. Jake headed to Akron University last week on a football scholarship but quickly decided he wanted to be back at home in Beaver County and decided to hook up with his brother at Geneva College.

The Delmonico brothers join a threesome of brothers already in uniform. Aaron Tommelleo, a senior linebacker and one of two captains on the 2009 roster, is a second generation Tommelleo to play at Geneva and is joined by younger brother Anthony on the 2009 squad. Older brother Tom Jr. also played for the Golden Tornadoes and graduated in 2004. Tom Tommelleo Sr. was a standout for Geneva back in the mid-1970′s.

Additionally, Matt and Jordan Curry, along with Parker and Tucker Nuetzel will all be wearing the Geneva black and gold this season. "We know a good thing when we see it," explained DeMarco. "Geneva College has always been a family oriented place, both academically and athletically, so it makes perfect sense that we have enjoyed great success in attracting siblings to our football program. I think I started the tradition having played with my own brother at Geneva. The tough thing now is that he is also my pastor. I′m sure no other player in Geneva history ever had to endure that kind of adversity."

In fact, the story of brothers in the Geneva football program dates back to when DeMarco′s successor Gene Sullivan was at the helm and his brother, Don Sullivan, was on the coaching staff. "Some of the best brother on brother squabbles I witnessed was between Gene and Don Sullivan. That is where the tradition of brothers in the Geneva football program really got its start."

As for the current sets of brothers, each may play a significant role this year. In 2008, Aaron Tommelleo was among the team leaders in tackles, while Matt Curry, AJ Delmonico and Parker Nuetzel all played key roles for the Golden Tornadoes.
