In Beaver Falls, the Beyond the Bend campaign has transformed the home of Geneva College. In addition to the main campus entrance and renovated football field, the college now has improved parking and an attractive pedestrian plaza in the middle of campus. Construction crews will complete the finishing touches in time for the start of classes on August 31.

“With all the changes that have happened over the summer, many of our returning students will barely recognize the center of campus,” says Director of Public Relations Cheryl Johnston. “It will be exciting to see them enjoy this new space.”

Many students have already returned to campus for athletic camps and student leadership training, and the college will welcome approximately 400 new students for orientation the week before classes begin.

On September 9, the college will send its first group of students to Italy to study in Geneva College′s Semester in Rome program. A Geneva program taught by Geneva faculty, the Semester in Rome is a unique living-learning experience for students of all majors. Taught by Professor of English and Humanities Dr. Lynda Szabo, students will study the foundations of art, history, philosophy, music and more. Site Director Kristen Snyder, also a college employee, will oversee resident life.

“As we anticipate receiving our first group of students at the Rome Campus, it is rewarding to see many months of work come to fruition,” says Dr. Jeff Cole, professor of history and director of the Semester in Rome program. “Our students are in for rich cultural experiences that will have an influence on them for the rest of their lives.”
