FOX RESCUES GENEVA AGAIN

Beaver Falls, PA – Perhaps the best compliment a coach can give to an offensive player on his soccer team is that “all he does is score”. That statement couldn′t be a truer descriptionof Bruce Fox. After scoring the game tying goal in Geneva′s overtime victory against Franciscan on Friday, Fox netted the game winner in a 1-0 win over Mt. Union on Saturday afternoon. Geneva moved its record to 2-1, while Mt. Union fell to 1-2 after the Golden Tornadoes took home the first place trophy at their own invitational this weekend.

Fox chipped a pass from Jon Mathoslah passed the goalkeeper in the 33rd minute and senior goalkeeper David Callahan made that goal stand up with his first shut-out of the season. Callahan converted five saves in holding the Purple Raiders off of the scoreboard.

Geneva out shot Mt. Union by a slim 11-10 margin in a game that was dominated by field position. Midway through the first half both teams had combined for just one shot, but Geneva made its one shot pay off as Fox scored the only goal that Geneva would need.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Heidelberg next Wednesday in the first of two straight road games before returning to Merriman Athletic Complex on September 19th.
