1ST HALF COMEBACK ALL FOR NOT IN

LOSS TO MEDAILLE

Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College women′s soccer team started slowly in its match against Medaille College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes rallied from a two goal deficit in the first half only to see the Mavericks notch the final two goals in a 4-2 Medaille victory. The loss for Geneva moved its record back to 2-2 while Medaille moved to 2-3 on the season.

The Mavericks opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes of the half to stun the home standing Golden Tornadoes. It was at that point Geneva′s Maura Allen took over and single handedly brought her team back with her first two collegiate goals. Allen scored in the 33rd minute on a brilliant cross from Ariel Lilly. Allen struck again just six minutes later on a feed from Elise Mann.

With the game tied at two heading into halftime, the Golden Tornadoes seemingly had all of the momentum. That momentum was quickly thwarted when Medaille′s Laura Freeman scored her second goal of the match in the 63rd minute. Freeman, who entered the game as Medaille′s leading scorer, capped off a great afternoon with the final goal and a hat trick at the 83 minute mark.

Lauren Londino did all she could to keep Geneva close with eight saves before leaving the match in the final minutes with an injury. Alexa Wisel entered the game as Medaille′s goalkeeper at halftime and won for the second time this season.

The Golden Tornadoes will continue their lengthy home stand on Wednesday when they host Franciscan at 7 pm.
