Pittsburgh, PA - Winning on the road is never an easy endeavor, but for a young team it can be even more difficult. On Wednesday, the Geneva men′s soccer team took a big step toward growing up with a 2-0 road win at LaRoche College for its first win outside of Beaver Falls this year. The victory helped Geneva improve to 3-2 on the season as the Golden Tornadoes took advantage of some LaRoche misfortune.

It didn′t take long for Geneva to make a statement as sophomore Josh Mann found the net within the first minute of the game. With the Golden Tornadoes leading early in the match, a pair of LaRoche players were given red cards and the Redhawks were forced to play the majority of the match with a two-man disadvantage. Despite the overwhelming odds, LaRoche was able to hang around for most of the night as Geneva missed chance after chance around the net.

The Golden Tornadoes dominated field position and the stat sheet, but could not extend their lead until the final minutes of regulation when Mann struck again and allowed his teammates to breathe a bit easier down the stretch. Senior goalkeeper David Callahan was asked to make only a couple saves in registering his second shut-out victory of the season.

Geneva will head back home for a meeting with Cedarville University at Merriman Athletic Complex on Saturday night.
