Greenville, PA – Geneva co-head volleyball coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser are sure glad they visited the state of Maryland to recruit players for the current Golden Tornadoes squad. On Wednesday the duo that comes from the Terrapin state put on quite a show as Geneva cruised past Thiel by the score of 3-1. Geneva won in four games by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17 and moved to 5-1 on the season.

Adriane Blake and Rachel Kuegler, both given PAC coaches honors a year ago, each showed the Tomcats exactly why those awards were given out in 2008. Blake led the offensive charge with 19 kills while Kuegler chipped in with 14 kills. Both players contributed with 13 digs and Blake also finished the night with three blocks and a pair of service aces.

Brandi Snavely, the architect of the Geneva offense, led the way with 47 assists in the victory. Perhaps the most impressive performance came from sophomore libero Brianna Mixter who posted a career high 31 digs in the four-game victory. She was also one of the four players which ended the night with double digit digs on the defensive side of the net.

The Golden Tornadoes have opened the season with five wins in their first six matches and will put that record on the line Saturday when they host both Thomas More and Washington & Jefferson at Metheny Fieldhouse beginning at 11 am.
