Bethany, WV - The fact that Geneva′s volleyball team won a pair of matches over Bethany and Westminster on Saturday was not a real surprise. Perhaps the big news was exactly which Geneva player led the offensive charge. Maggie Bowersox enjoyed her best day of the year as she posted a combined 25 kills to lead the Golden Tornadoes past Bethany and Westminster. Geneva opened the day with a convincing 3-0 win over the Bison by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-17). The Golden Tornadoes then dismantled the Titans in three games by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-17). Geneva improved its overall record to 8-3, including a mark of 5-1 against PAC competition.
Bowersox threw down 13 kills in the first match while teammate Laura Zerbe added nine kills and an impressive six service aces. Brandi Snavely posted 35 assists and Brianna Mixter led the defense with 15 digs.
Bowersox was even more impressive in the second match with ten kills on only 12 swings and zero hitting errors. Adriane Blake led the way against Westminster with 13 kills while Zerbe chipped in with seven kills in the night cap. Snavely matched her 35 assist total in the second match and Mixter put up 15 more digs.
Geneva will return home on Wednesday for matches against Chatham and Carnegie Mellon at Metheny Fieldhouse.
