Bethany, WV - The Geneva College women′s tennis team has hit its mid-season stride with a four game winning streak. The Golden Tornadoes dispatched Bethany on Wednesday by the score of 8-1. During its four game streak, Geneva has outscored its opponents 29-5. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 6-4 on the season, including a 5-2 mark against PAC foes.

The match started with Geneva sweeping three doubles matches including a pair of 8-0 victories by the #1 and #3 doubles teams. Amy Weller and Ashlyn Mallison were taken to the limit in #2 doubles but came out on the winning side by the count of 9-7.

The Golden Tornadoes won five of six singles matches with each match consisting of a ten-game pro set. Chelsea Cover and Kara Zimmerman, Geneva′s #1 doubles team, each picked up victories in singles. Maura McLaughlin and Bethany Ragonesi, the #3 doubles team, each won singles matches in impressive fashion. McLaughlin cruised to a 10-1 victory while Ragonesi posted the only shut-out of the day in singles at 10-0. Ashlyn Mallison also picked up a singles victory by the count of 10-1.

Geneva will go right back to the road on Thursday when it travels to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham University. Geneva defeated Chatham 6-3 in the season opener back on September 1st. The Golden Tornadoes won′t return home until an October 10th homecoming meeting with Waynesburg.
