Geneva College recently held its annual academic convocation to welcome the class of 2013 and recognize this year′s recipients of the annual Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Scholarship Awards.
Dr. Adel Aiken, professor of education and the 2008 recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award, offered an address entitled "The Heart of the Child," emphasizing the importance of story and simple trust even after we reach adulthood. "Stories open our mind to who we can become, with the wisdom of an adult and a child′s wonder," she said. Aiken also warned the audience against "the danger of losing a childlike heart when we set aside our childish ways." To hear her address, click on the Academic Convocation link below.
