Kara ZimmermanBeaver Falls, PA – This is starting to become a weekly habit for the Golden Tornadoes′ athletic department. For the third consecutive week, a Geneva College student-athlete has been awarded the NCCAA national player of the week award. This time it is the Geneva women′s tennis team that earned honors with the award going to junior Kara Zimmerman.

Zimmerman helped lead the Golden Tornadoes to a perfect 3-0 week with victories over Washington & Jefferson, Bethany and Chatham.  Geneva is currently riding a six match winning streak with an overall record of 8-4. Zimmerman has a personal streak of 11 consecutive victories combining her work in singles and doubles play in the last two weeks. During Geneva′s three victories last week, Zimmerman was a perfect 6-0 and outscored her opponents by a decisive 58-20 margin in games played.

Holding down the #2 singles spot for head coach Mandee Craft, Zimmerman has also paired with Chelsea Cover on the top doubles team for the Golden Tornadoes. The top doubles tandem has won six straight and is 6-3 on the year while Zimmerman has notched five straight victories in singles play and stands at 8-4 on the season.

Zimmerman and the Golden Tornadoes continued their stellar play on Monday with another victory against Washington & Jefferson. Geneva will host Waynesburg on Saturday in a homecoming match before closing out the season at Westminster next week.
