New Wilmington, PA - When Geneva College head women′s tennis coach Mandee Craft takes stock of the 2009 season, she will undoubtedly look back at one of her most memorable seasons. The Golden Tornadoes ended their 2009 campaign on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 loss to Westminster College. Although the season ending loss was not the perfect script for the end of the season, but that doesn′t take away from what was a great run for Geneva College.

The Golden Tornadoes finished their season with an overall record of 9-5. The loss to Westminster put an end to a seven game winning streak that was the longest for the Geneva program during Craft′s nine year tenure as head coach.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea Cover was named the NCCAA national player of the week making her the second Geneva recipient of the award in as many weeks. Cover was also the third different Geneva player to be honored in the past two years.

On Wednesday, it was the doubles tandem of Maura McLaughlin and Bethany Ragonesi that picked up Geneva′s lone point in the 8-1 loss. But it was also fitting that Ragonesi got the victory in her final collegiate match as Geneva′s only senior player.
