Greensburg, PA - Many coaches will say the level of character for a team can be shown in how it responds to adversity. On Saturday afternoon, Geneva head men′s soccer coach Todd Beall can be sure his team has character as it twice responded to opposing goals with a tally of its own. The Golden Tornadoes won for the fifth straight game and second in as many days with a 4-2 decision over Pitt-Greensburg. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 11-4 while the Bobcats fell to 3-12-1.

Pitt-Greensburg grabbed the first half momentum when it opened the scoring 25 minutes into the match. It was Jake McCracken with a goal just one minute later that knotted the score at one apiece. Teddy Krzywiecki scored the first of his two goals ten minutes later to give the Golden Tornadoes their first lead of the match. Not to be out done, the Bobcats again tied the score in the 39th minute.

The Golden Tornadoes again showed their true colors as Matt Weaver found the back of the net less than a minute later to give Geneva a lead it would never relinquish. Geneva scored the only goal of the second half as Krzywiecki struck again when he deflected a shot from McCracken into the back of the net six minutes into the second half. Senior goalkeeper David Callahan made that lead hold up with a total of four saves in the match.

Geneva dominated the statistics sheet with a decisive edge in shots 24-10, but it was quick strike offensive answers for the Golden Tornadoes that ultimately decided the match and kept Geneva rolling in the right direction.

The Golden Tornadoes will look to match their 12 win total from the past two years next Saturday when they travel to Saint Vincent College. Geneva will end the regular season with three out of four on the road with the only exception coming on October 28th against Waynesburg in the home finale.
