Pittsburgh, PA - Maybe the only positive thing that came out of Geneva′s trip to Chatham on Wednesday was the weather. Outside of a beautiful day to play, the Golden Tornadoes did not have much to smile about on their way back to Beaver Falls. Geneva dropped a 2-1 decision to Chatham in women′s soccer on Wednesday for its fourth consecutive loss dropping its overall record to 7-7 for the season. Meanwhile, Chatham improved to 5-8 with its first victory over Geneva since the Golden Tornadoes joined the PAC.

The Cougars were awarded a first half penalty kick that they made good on to take a 1-0 lead early in the first half. That goal stood up throughout the first half and the Golden Tornadoes took that 1-0 deficit into halftime.

Geneva′s Rebecca Shaw tied the game five minutes into the second half with her fourth goal of the season. Despite several additional chances, Geneva could not get the go ahead goal. Chatham was able to get the decisive tally with five minutes remaining in regulation for what turned out to be the difference.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Saint Vincent on Saturday before preparing for two matches in the final week of the regular season. Geneva, now 7-7 on the season, must win two of its last three matches to qualify for post-season play in the NCCAA.
