Huntingdon, PA - The Geneva College women′s volleyball team knew it had a tough task ahead at the Juniata College Tournament. Playing three matches against teams with a combined record of 51-20, the Golden Tornadoes would be facing some of the toughest competition of the year. The weekend got off on the right foot Friday night as Geneva cruised past York College 3-0 with scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19. The victory moved Geneva to 16-8 overall as the Golden Tornadoes won for just the second time in their last five matches.

The Golden Tornadoes have not been getting consistent performances from their offense in the past two weeks but on Friday they put it all together. Adriane Blake led the way with 15 kills while teammate Rachel Kuegler added nine kills in the victory. Brianna Mixter led the defense with 24 digs while Blake picked up 15 digs on the defensive side of the floor. Brandi Snavely was solid in every phase with 32 assists, a service ace and two solo blocks at the net.

It doesn′t get any easier for Geneva on Saturday as it starts the day against host Juniata which enters the match with a 23-2 overall record. The Golden Tornadoes will also face a very good Carnegie Mellon team in a rematch of an earlier season match that had Geneva winning 3-2.

The Golden Tornadoes return home next Tuesday to host Westminster in another PAC contest.
