Pittsburgh, PA - While the number 13 is not exactly the number of choice for most athletes, it has been one number that the Geneva men′s soccer team has been looking at for the past three years. Head coach Todd Beall and the Golden Tornadoes picked up 12 victories in each of the past two years, but were never able to get over that hump. That is until Monday afternoon when Geneva picked up a 2-1 victory at Point Park that pushed the Golden Tornadoes′ win streak to seven games and moved their overall record to 13-4.

Geneva controlled the tempo and the field position for most of the game but needed a second half goal to unlock a 1-1 tie to get that elusive 13th victory of the season. Austin Petrie found the back of the net to open the scoring when he received a length of the field pass from goalkeeper David Callahan. Callahan registered his first assist of the season to get the Golden Tornadoes on the board.

The lead held up through the first half but less than three minutes into the second stanza the Pioneers managed to tie the game on one of its three shots on goal in the match. Tied at one each, Geneva was granted a penalty kick with less than 20 minutes on the clock and Caleb Musselman made it pay off with his second penalty kick goal of the season.

Geneva will have two more chances to improve upon its 13 victories in 2009 with the home finale coming up on Wednesday night against Waynesburg and the regular season finale scheduled for Friday at Thiel. The Golden Tornadoes will then await the NCCAA Eastern Regionals and try to get past another milestone with their first trip to the nationals since Beall took over the program three years ago.
