Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva women′s volleyball season is far from over. In fact, the Golden Tornadoes have some lofty goals still in sight, but on Thursday night its two seniors said good-bye to Metheny Fieldhouse in the final home match of the season. Their teammates made sure it was a happy memory as Geneva cruised past Waynesburg by the score of 3-0 with game scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-18). The Golden Tornadoes won for the second time in three nights and improved to 18-10 on the season.

Seniors Brandi Snavely and Michelle Zimmovan have played a key role in Geneva′s success all season and Thursday′s match was no exception. Snavely finished with a game high 40 assists and Zimmovan had five kills, five digs and a pair of service aces. The senior duo was lifted late in the third game to a rousing ovation by friends and family in appreciation for a job well done throughout their Geneva careers.

As the torch is being past to a younger group it was apparent that youth was served on this night. Maggie Bowersox was nearly perfect in an incredible performance at the net. The freshman threw down 17 kills in only 20 swings with zero hitting errors. Adriane Blake added ten kills in just the first two games of the night. Brianna Mixter led the way with eight digs, all of which came in the first two games. Mixter also had four of Geneva′s ten service aces.

The Golden Tornadoes travel to Saint Vincent on Saturday before heading to Malone next Tuesday to take on the Pioneers and Mt. Vernon Nazarene in a pair of matches that will most likely decide the NCCAA post-season fate of the Golden Tornadoes.
