Greenville, PA - It′s now about the waiting game for the Geneva men′s soccer team. The Golden Tornadoes closed out their regular season in impressive fashion on Friday with a convincing 6-0 victory over Thiel College. Geneva ended the season at 15-4 and riding the crest of a season high nine-game winning streak. Geneva must now wait for the NCCAA East Regional tournament that may be played in Beaver Falls, but not for two or maybe three weeks.

Geneva got rolling early and often at Thiel on Friday as it opened the scoring four minutes into the match when Teddy Krzywiecki knocked in a goal off of a feed from Austin Petrie. Geneva′s defensive specialist Gabe Kleinert got into the offensive action in the 15th minute with his first goal of the season. Usually specializing in keeping the opponents off the board from his familiar defensive position, Kleinert struck a beautiful ball to give the Golden Tornadoes a 2-0 lead.

Jeb Nash and Zach Buffalini also found the net before the first half whistle blew and the Golden Tornadoes were well in control of the match. The second half featured Josh Mann′s team leading 11th goal of the season and the first goal of the season off the foot of Jon Kertland.

The Golden Tornadoes out shot Thiel 19-3 so it was not exactly a busy night for the goalkeeping tandem of David Callahan and Evan Biedenbach. The duo combined for Geneva′s eighth shut-out the season with each goalkeeper playing 45 minutes.

Geneva will now await word on when, where and who it will face at the NCCAA eastern regional tournament. The possibility still stands that the Golden Tornadoes may be playing on College Hill come tournament time. The winner of the regional tournament will receive and automatic berth to the NCCAA national tournament in Florida later this fall.
