BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Geneva College Theatre will open its 2009–10 season in the Studio Theatre with three short plays of suspense and terror by Lucille Fletcher. The production is being directed by Mindy Wagner, Geneva College′s director of theater.

Set against the backdrop of 1940′s New York City, these three plays are inspired by the style of film noir and 1940s radio shows.

  • “The Hitchhiker,” a ghost story made famous over the radio by the iconic Orson Welles, continues to strike fear in hearts of audience members today.
  • The classic noir tale “Sorry Wrong Number” is the story of a neurotic invalid whose only contact with the outside world is her phone. Because of a crossed wire, she overhears plans for a murder and is desperately trying to stop it.
  • Finally, “Night Watch” is a thrilling tale of murder, intrigue and deceit. Elaine Wheeler is thrown into terror as she begins seeing dead bodies that mysteriously disappear when she calls the police. Unable to convince anyone of what she has seen she frantically tries to unravel the mystery as ghosts from her past come back to haunt her.

Performances of the plays will run from Thursday, Oct. 29 to Saturday, Oct. 31 and Thursday, Nov. 5 to Saturday, Nov. 7. Performances begin at 8 p.m., and both Saturdays will have matinee performances at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3.50 for Geneva faculty and staff, $3 for senior citizens and Geneva students, and $2 for children under 12 (no babies in arms, please). Group rates are available, as is handicap seating.
