Beaver Falls, PA - It has been a pretty special ride for the Geneva College men′s soccer team this fall. Sitting with a record of 15-4 including a nine-game winning streak, the Golden Tornadoes are awaiting the NCCAA eastern regional tournament next weekend. What makes the season even more improbable is that it has happened for a group with only one senior on the roster. That one and only senior is however a very important piece of the Geneva soccer puzzle. David Callahan started every game for the Golden Tornadoes in goal this year and is credited with all 15 victories. Along the way, the Phoenix, Az native has six shut-outs and 1.00 goals against average in 19 games.
For his efforts on the field and in the classroom, Callahan was named the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) male scholar-athlete of the month. In the classroom, Callahan is a history/secondary education major with a cumulative GPA of 3.309. He is also the president of the Geneva SAAC group and the vice-president of the PAC SAAC and an active member of the college′s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter.
Each month, SAAC members at a PAC school nominate a student-athlete to highlight based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Honorees must be a varsity member in their respective sports(s) and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-athletes of the month must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved on his or her campus community.
