2009 Genevans choir

The Genevans, the official choir of Geneva College, will present its annual Christmas concert on December 4 and 5 in the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls. The concerts, which are free and open to the public, begin at 8 p.m., preceded by a hand bell prelude at 7:30.

This year′s concert will showcase selections from Handel′s Messiah, as well as “Veiled in Darkness” by Pittsburgh composer Glenn Rudolph, “Like as the Hart” by Herbert Howells, and several familiar Christmas carols. Along with the Genevans, small ensembles including the Madrigal Singers and the Grace Notes will perform holiday tunes. There will be a free-will offering to raise money to support the Genevans ongoing ministries.

The program is under direction of Dr. Robert Copeland, who has led the choir almost 30 years. He will lead the group throughout Europe this upcoming year. “Our major reason to go is to minister to churches and communities with God′s gift of music,” says Dr. Copeland of the trip. “All of Europe is in desperate need of the Gospel, and our concerts offer an opportunity for people to gather in a non-threatening environment and hear the truths of God′s word as well as His work in the world.”
