Dr. PinkertonA memorial event for Geneva College professor Dr. John “Jack” E. Pinkerton will be held on Friday, November 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the John H. White chapel. The event will be a time of prayer and remembrance, and will also focus on some of the highlights of the more than 40 years that Dr. Pinkerton worked at Geneva College.

Dr. Pinkerton, a beloved member of the college community, passed away on May 6, 2009. Matt Gatchell (′93) says Dr. Pinkerton “was such a great example in so many ways ... his humble, tireless service, his sincere love for his students and his work, his patient endurance in trials.”

A professor of electrical engineering, Dr. Pinkerton served the Geneva College community for over four decades. Among his many accomplishments was shepherding the college through the threshold of information technology. In 1973, he helped establish the Geneva College Center for Technology Development, and served as its director. The center provides engineering support for local companies who lack the resources to develop their ideas.
