Beaver Falls, PA – It is what you work for all season long. It is why you put the hours of practice and preparation into your sport and why student-athletes tirelessly work toward a common goal. That common goal will be realized this weekend as the Geneva football team and soccer teams will be competing in the NCCAA post-season.

Geneva′s football team earned its sixth trip to the NCCAA Victory Bowl with a 7-3 regular season record in 2009. The Golden Tornadoes will become the first NCCAA team to appear in a sixth Victory Bowl. Geneva has recorded a 4-1 record in its previous five appearances and will be facing Greenville College, who will be making its first appearance in the NCCAA title game. Greenville finished off a 7-2 regular season last week earning the top spot in the final NCCAA poll. It was the first time all year that Geneva did not find itself as the top ranked team in the country. Following a loss at Westminster last weekend, the Golden Tornadoes will be forced to travel to Greenville for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday afternoon. Geneva will be seeking its seventh eight+ win season under head coach Geno DeMarco.

It has been a long two weeks for the men′s and women′s soccer teams at Geneva. After completing the regular season on October 30, both teams have been awaiting the east regional schedule for post-season play. Both teams will be competing in the NCCAA east regional tournament this weekend, but will be doing it at different venues. The women′s team will travel to Rochester, NY on Saturday to play Roberts Wesleyan in a one-game championship to determine the automatic bid to the NCCAA nationals. Geneva′s women finished the regular season at 9-8 and will be in search of their first-ever NCCAA national tournament appearance.

As for the men′s team, it will take two victories to earn an automatic bid to the NCCAA national tournament. The Golden Tornadoes will be hosting a four-team tournament beginning on Friday including Mt. Vernon Nazarene, Roberts Wesleyan and Nyack. Geneva will open against Roberts Wesleyan in the second of two semi-final matches on Friday afternoon. The championship will be played on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. with the winner earning the automatic bid to the national tournament in Kissimmee, FL. The Golden Tornadoes will put their impressive 15-4 overall record on the line as well as a season long nine-game winning streak.
