Through the Geneva College Scholarship Competition, students who performed at a superior level in high school will compete for academic scholarships to Geneva College. A total of 30 students who uphold the highest standards of education will be selected to receive significant scholarships.

The Geneva College Scholarship Competition will be held on Saturday, January 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of Northwood Hall. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Scholarship finalists will be selected by March 1.

Qualifications for the applicants who are eligible for the Geneva College Scholarship Competition in general include: a GPA of 3.5 or higher, an SAT score of at least 1300, and/or an ACT score of 29 or higher. Because of the stringent qualifications, participation in the event is by invitation only.

Of the 30 scholarships awarded, five are Presidential Scholarships with full tuition, 10 are C.M. Lee Scholarships at $20,000 ($5,000 per year) and 15 are Dean′s Scholarships at $8,000 ($2,000 per year).

The essay question for participants is: What does the concept of "calling:" mean to you, as an individual and as part of the Kingdom of God? How do you believe Geneva College can help you identify and pursue your calling? The length is 500-750 words.

The essay is due by January 20, 2010. E-mail submissions should be sent to jrbretch@geneva.edu. Students must personally attend the scholarship competition in order to be considered. Geneva College has many other scholarships available for students. For more information go to Financial Aid.
