Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva women′s basketball team put its perfect 4-0 home record on the line against Saint Vincent on Thursday night. By night′s end, the perfect record was no more as the Golden Tornadoes dropped an 81-45 decision to the Lady Bearcats. The loss dropped Geneva to 5-7 while Saint Vincent improved to 9-3.

The Geneva and Saint Vincent women hooked up 55 times prior to Thursday′s match-up with the Lady Bearcats coming away with 43 victories in a quite lopsided series. The Saint Vincent control continued on Thursday at Geneva never threatened Saint Vincent as it walked out to a 32-17 halftime lead before outscoring Geneva 49-28 in the second half.

Geneva shot just 21% from the field with only six field goals in each half. Combined poor shooting with 28 turnovers made for the wrong recipe against a very good Saint Vincent opponent. The Golden Tornadoes were just 3-26 from three-point range which hindered any comeback attempt.

Rachel Barry and Renee Rawding each scored 12 points to lead the Geneva attack, but it was not nearly enough. "One of those games," said head coach Renee Rawding. "We did not come ready to play and Saint Vincent took advantage. We didn′t do a whole lot right and they played a great game. That is never a good combination."

Geneva will host Chatham at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon before heading out to Grove City and Westminster for a pair of PAC road contests next week.
