Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva men′s basketball team opened a three game stint against some of its favorite rivals on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes took care of Penn State Beaver for the second time this season by the score of 76-59 as the Golden Tornadoes now look ahead to road games at Grove City and Westminster. The victory moved Geneva to 7-7 on the year while the Lions dropped to 8-5.

Both teams shot the ball extremely well in the first half and Geneva found its way to the locker room with a slim 31-29 lead. Geneva′s shooting continued to sizzle in the final 20 minutes, but Penn State cooled off as the Golden Tornadoes outscored the Lions 45-30 in the final 20 minutes. "We wanted to turn up the defensive intensity in the second half," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "Our defensive effort led to some easy baskets on the offensive end of the floor." Geneva shot 58% from the field for the game including an incredible 13-20 from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The Golden Tornadoes featured a balanced offensive attack led by Rich Colick′s 14 points. TJ Bevilacqua came off the bench for 12 points with Brandon Harvey and Lambros Svingos each chipping in with 11 points. Tony Houghton led the Lions with 21 points in the loss.

"It is nice to be back in Pennsylvania," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. He was referring to Geneva′s 7-1 record within the Keystone state as he tries to forget the 0-6 mark out of state. The good news for Santarsiero and the Golden Tornadoes is that the final 11 regular season games will be within the Pennsylvania borders. "Our guys certainly play with a feeling of comfort on the home floor," said Santarsiero. "We are going to have to learn how to win on the road, but right now we are happy with where we are at this point of the season."

Geneva will travel to Grove City and Westminster next week before returning home to face Waynesburg on January 20th.
