Greenville, PA - Geneva College head men′s basketball coach Jeff Santarsiero wasn′t about to mince words when it came to his club′s performance at Thiel College on Wednesday night. "They dominated us in every facet of the game," said Santarsiero. "It was just one of those nights. We couldn′t do anything right and they could do no wrong." Santarsiero watched his team′s six game winning streak halted by Thiel College by the score of 93-69. Nights like the one experienced on Wednesday have been few and far between for a Geneva team that fell to 11-8 after falling to the Tomcats. Geneva′s defense, which had not surrendered 70 points to an opponent during the six-game streak, watched Thiel scorch them for 93 on Wednesday night.

Geneva trailed by just six points at the half by the score of 33-27 but could not contain Thiel′s offensive onslaught in the final 20 minutes. "I actually sat the starters for ten minutes in the second half," said Santarsiero. "We didn′t have anyone doing much on either end of the court and I let some other guys get extended minutes."

Thiel was busy burning up the nets in the second half with 60 points and a mark of 64% from the field as a team. The Tomcats were also 4-7 from three-point range in the final 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Geneva′s leading scorer Rich Colick, who was hampered with foul trouble most of the night, was held to just six points on 2-7 shooting from the field. Dave Phillips scored ten points as Geneva′s only player to reach double figures. Matt Block came off the bench to score nine points in the loss.

"We don′t have much time to dwell on the loss," said Santarsiero. "We have an outstanding basketball team coming to town on Saturday." Geneva will host Bethany College at Metheny Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm as it attempts to begin a new winning streak.
