Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women′s basketball team has played Thomas More six times since joining the Presidents′ Athletic Conference three years ago and the result has been the same in every instance. On Wednesday, it was the same story as the 15th ranked Saints cruised past Geneva 93-63. While Geneva dropped to 7-13 for the season, Thomas More improved to 18-2. The loss also officially eliminated Geneva′s NCCAA post-season chances and the hopes of a season above the .500 mark.

Thomas More jumped out to a 13-2 lead to open the game, but the Golden Tornadoes responded with the next eight points to cut the lead to just three but that was as close as they would get for the rest of the night. The Saints took a 40-22 lead into the locker room and slowly increased their advantage throughout the final 20 minutes. In fact, the 30 point difference at the end of the game was the largest lead of the contest for Thomas More. "They proved why they are a tough team to beat," said Geneva head coach Renee Drake. "They have a lot of depth and keep bringing the pressure in waves on both ends of the floor. They are very well coached and are solid from top to bottom."

As far as Geneva′s offense, senior Renee Rawding missed her first six shots of the game but ended with a flurry and a team best 19 points. Beth DeLuca added 13 points and Alyse Scarsella chipped in with ten points before her and Val Hamilton each fouled out late in the second half. Despite being outscored 53-41 in the second half, Geneva shot 54% from the field matching the offensive output from Thomas More.

Geneva will head back to the road in search of its first road win of the season on Saturday when it plays Saint Vincent. The Golden Tornadoes return home on February 13th against Grove City at 5:30 pm.
